In order to reduce the friction and wear of plastic, you can choose to add lubricating oil or wear-resistant packing. Lubricating oil has many disadvantages. For a long time, the oil will age, and it needs to be maintained regularly, and it is easy to gather dust and debris, and pollute internal parts. Therefore, it is the best choice to add wear-resistant fillers to increase the wear resistance and self-lubrication of plastics. What fillers can improve the wear resistance of plastics?

1、Polysiloxane

Polysiloxane liquid is a kind of wear-resistant additive that migrates. When added to thermoplastics, the additive slowly migrates to the surface of parts and forms a continuous film. Polysiloxanes have a wide range of viscosity. The viscosity of polysiloxane is more than low, more easily into a liquid form and more quickly migrated to the surface of parts to provide wear-resisting properties. If the viscosity of polysiloxane is too low, it is more volatile and will quickly migrate away from the parts.

2、The glass fiber

Glass fiber is a kind of inorganic non-metallic material, mainly using silica as raw material, with a diameter of several microns to twenty microns. It has the advantages of good insulation, strong heat resistance, good corrosion resistance and high mechanical strength. It is often used as a reinforcement material for plastics.

Although glass fiber itself brittle, wear resistance is poor, but if used to strengthen plastics, glass fiber can provide the function of strong mechanical bonding between polymers, so glass fiber can increase the overall structure of thermoplastic and improve the wear resistance. Glass fiber reinforced plastics can be used in various mechanical parts such as pumps, water valves, bearings, bushings, gears, supports, rollers, etc.

3、The carbon fiber

Carbon fiber reinforced plastics (CFRP) can be used as bearings, gears and piston rings for special purposes by virtue of its self-lubricating properties. Such as aviation instruments and tape recorders with oil-free bearings, electric diesel locomotive with oil-free lubrication gear (to avoid oil leakage caused by the accident), oil-free lubrication on the compressor piston rings, etc..

4、Aromatic polyamide fibre (aramid)

Aramid fiber is also one of wear-resistant additives. Compared to glass fiber and carbon fiber, it is the softest and least scratch resistant fiber. This characteristic is the main advantage of the application of aromatic polyamide fiber in the field of wear resistance.
